About Us
Our story doesn’t start with a catalogue or a showroom.
It starts with a suitcase and an idea that felt a little bold at the time. The kind of idea that only makes sense when you look back on it later.
Moving our family from Australia to Alberta meant starting fresh in every sense of the word. New country, new climate, new community, and eventually a new home. Somewhere in the middle of unpacking boxes, adjusting to winters, and building a life in St. Albert, a simple idea began to take shape. What if the final layer of a home the Window Coverings was treated with the same care as everything else?
What began around a kitchen table conversation turned into a clear vision: helping homeowners finish their spaces properly, with blinds and window coverings that feel considered, intentional, and built for the way people actually live.

We've always been interior-obsessed creating mood boards, and saving pins of beautiful architectural homes from around the world. When we moved into our builder grade new home one thing kept standing out; window coverings were almost always treated like the final checkbox.
But blinds do so much more than cover a window.
They frame the room.
They control light and privacy.
They shape the atmosphere of a space.
They’re often the difference between a room feeling almost finished and completely done.
WHY IS LAST STEP DIFFERENT
We don't just sell window coverings. We finish rooms. We love ski days that end by the fire. Slow Sunday morning. Warm kitchens and rooms that fill lived in (not staged).
Last Step is built around that same feeling.

We built the blinds company we wished existed, one focused on custom blinds and window coverings that are design-aware, Canadian-made, professionally measured, and thoughtfully installed for homes across St. Albert and Edmonton.
A Note From The Founders
We didn’t start Last Step because we were obsessed with blinds.
We started it because we’re obsessed with how a room feels when it’s actually finished.
After moving from Australia to Canada with our kids, we became hyper-aware of light in a way we never had before. The snow reflects everything differently. The seasons shift the mood of a space. And suddenly, the way light moved through our home really mattered.
We had carefully designed our spaces; textures, tones, materials but every time it came to window coverings, it felt like an afterthought. Rushed decisions. Generic options. Installations that didn’t quite land. And it always showed. That “almost there” feeling stuck with us. So we built Last Step around fixing exactly that. Not just selling blinds, but finishing rooms properly.
Josh comes from the building & glass industry, with years of experience working in luxurious Sydney homes and understanding how every detail contributes to the final result. Eden comes from the e-commerce world, with a keen eye for design and a long-standing love of interiors and homewares. Together, we saw the gap clearly. The final layer of a room was being treated like the least important one. Everything we do is intentional from Canadian-made materials to how we measure, to how we install. We bring samples into your space, look at the light with you, and help make decisions that actually make sense for how you live.
